Local's Night
One Harbor has experienced unbelievable growth over the last year and a half and we are so thankful for all of you being a part of what God is doing. However, we don't want to just be a "big body," but one of our key values is being a "Deep Place" where the vast majority of us know Jesus and our lives could be described as people who've "been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13) and a body with intention- not just floating lackadaisically, but moving forward with the Gospel mission
Why “Local’s Night?”
lo·cal [loh-kuhl]
noun:
1. a local person or resident: primarily of interest to locals
adjective:
1. pertaining to or characterized by place or position in space
2. pertaining to, characteristic of, or restricted to a particular place or particular places: a local custom
3. pertaining to a city, town, or small district rather than an entire state or country: local transportation
Every city is made up of locals and visitors. Some of the locals are in governmental roles and some are in specific serving roles pertaining to the city, however, the majority fulfill their obligation by working hard, paying taxes and being good and responsible citizens. There is a minority still who are unable to care for themselves, let alone others, and are dependent upon the mercy of the stronger. Any healthy city requires all of these people to be playing their role to the best of their ability. The church is not different.
The governmental role belongs to the team of elders and the specific serving role belongs to the deacons. The other citizens, both the strong & the weak, represent the local body of believers typically called members or the congregation.
"Local's Night" are nights designed for conversation around what the Bible has to say about following Jesus and being the church. It is specifically a time for people who call One Harbor Church home to gather and learn together.
This is not open to people who call another church their home. We recognize that each church (harbor) is different and we will only be attempting to address how we at One Harbor operate as a "city within a city."
Please come ready to think, interact and learn- and have fun hanging out with the other amazing people in One Harbor. There will also be a question and answer session at the end of each Local's Night. Please fill out a question card at the beginning of the meeting if you want your questions addressed.
Some topics we'll be covering as we meet monthly:
- How the Church Began
- Holes That Sink The Ship- Pitfalls of the Modern Church
- What Does It Mean to be Saved?
- Marks of a Healthy/Mature Christian Disciple
- What A Church Is/Isn't
- Different Models of Local Church
- Roles of Elders/Deacons/Saints(Locals)
- Key Values For One Harbor
- Etc
We are SO looking forward to gathering together and intentionally chatting through what it means to follow Jesus and be the church. Join us at the next Local's Night!
