Theological Definitions

 

Imputation

Through Jesus' death, He is "Second Adam" and His righteous nature has been given to us as a replacement of the sin nature we were given at birth through Adam's original sin.

 


Justification

Through Jesus' death, our record of debt & legal demands that were standing against us from our sin have been cancelled & we can now stand before God guilt free & without fear of judgement. 

 


Propitiation

Through Jesus' death, God's just wrath towards us because of our sin has been satisfied & has changed to unconditional love & favor. 

 


Reconciliation

Through Jesus' death, our relationship to God has been restored.  We are no longer enemies of God, but part of His family & citizens in His Kingdom. 

 


Regeneration

Through Jesus' death, God the Holy Spirit has taken us from death and made us alive.  He has written His law on our hearts & we are now able to live lives that are not slaves to sin, but are able to glorify God. 

 


Sanctification

Through Jesus' death, we are not only put in right standing with God, but we are also growing in ever increasing degrees of holiness by the work of the Holy Spirit as we yield to Him.

 


Substitution

Through Jesus' death, He served as our substitute, dying a death we could not die & paying a price we could not pay.
